Format Studio GmbH complies with these provisions. Personal data is treated as strictly confidential and is not shared with or sold to any third parties. In close cooperation with our hosting provider, we make every effort to protect the databases as well as possible from outside access, data loss, misuse or falsification.

When you access our websites, the following data is stored in log files: IP address, date, time, downloads, location, browser request and general information transmitted to the operating system or browser respectively. This data usage forms the basis for statistical, anonymous evaluations to further improve our services accordingly. We do not collect your personal information on this site unless you choose to give it to us. However, sharing of some relevant personal information is required in order to complete the purchasing process for font licencing.

These are the instances on the Formatfoundry.com website where you will need to provide personal information: for purchasing a typeface licence, and for setting up a customer account. In each of these instances, you are required to provide details of identifiable information, including one or more of the following: name and surname, physical address, digital delivery address, billing address, email address, telephone number, order details, online customer account information (including date of opening and user name), and, for business customers in the European Union, company VAT number.

To detect fraudulent use of our online shop and prevent illegal purchases by perpetrators with assumed identities, we make use of an external verification services; however, none of this data is stored or processed by Format Foundry. Information used for the security check will include one or more of the following: IP address, location, date, time, browser information, email hash, country of billing address, country of delivery address.

When you choose to make contact with us, your e-mail address will be stored in a separate database not connected with the anonymous log files. You may delete your registration at any time.

On which legal basis do we process your data? In order to process customer data, we rely on the following legal basis:

  1. The customer’s given consent, which the customer may withdraw at any time;
  2. The necessity to conclude and fulfill the license agreement with the customers;
  3. Our legitimate business interests, such as improving, personalizing and developing our services, or the marketing of new features and/or products that may be of interest to existing customers

We keep your personal data for as long as we consider necessary or reasonable to comply with the applicable laws, or for as long as this is necessary for the purposes for which they were collected. What rights do you have in respect to your personal data? The customer has the right to assert data protection rights at any time, and to obtain information about stored personal data, to rectify, add to, object to the processing of personal data, or demand the deletion of such personal data, in parts or as a whole. We reserve the right to correspond with you electronically in this connection (especially by e-mail).

Who processes credit card payments and payment-related personal data? Credit card payments are processed using Saferpay (www.saferpay.com), an e-payment solution by SIX Payment Services. Your payment details are processed by SIX Payment Services AG, Hardturmstrasse 201, CH–8005 Zurich, Switzerland.
